Needs Council offering free Tax Assistance – An Appointment is Required

The Hill Country Community Needs Council will offer tax assistance Mondays and Thursdays from 1pm to 6pm through April 14, 2022, for households with income under $57,000. Spanish speaking tax preparers are available on Mondays only. 

If you are unable to access the website call (830) 997-9756 to make an appointment. Due to limited lobby space and Covid safety practices; the children’s waiting area is closed and masks are required.

Returns are e-filed by certified public accountants.

Essential Paperwork to bring to your appointment: 

*2020 tax return 
*Social Security Cards – for each household member (or ITIN letter)
* Photo IDs
* Bank info for direct deposit
* W-2’s & 1099’s
* For Self Employed – Income and Expenses
* 1095-A  – (If insurance was purchased through Marketplace)
* Letter 6419 – Child Tax Credit Summary
* Letter 6475 3rd Stimulus Check (during 2021
* For Earned Income Credit – bring 2019’s tax return * (Only if 2019’s income was higher than 2021)
* Daycare Receipt & Provider ID
* List of Charitable donations – Maximum of $600
* Any IRS notices

Our Services

Crisis Assistance

Assistance is provided for housing, utilities, child care, medications, emergency medical procedures, dental, hearing and vision expenses.

Counseling & Domestic violence support

Victims of physical, emotional and sexual abuse receive critical counseling by licensed professionals. As they get their lives back on track, clients are also provided budgeting, goal-setting and financial planning assistance.

Senior Services

Needs Council volunteers provide “friendly support” to homebound seniors and rides to medical appointments since many have no family nearby. Community members adopt and provide gifts to these seniors and disabled adults at Christmas.

Child & Family Services

Children and their families are provided assistance with coats, school supplies, food, childcare, scholarships, parenting classes and Christmas assistance with the help of many community volunteers.
