Emergency Shelter
A temporary shelter for displaced residents of Gillespie County is being held at First Baptist Church. Volunteers are needed to assist in the operation of the shelter.
Thank you for your interest in helping with the emergency shelter. The county is working on moving those housed in the shelter to local B & Bs. The majority of those living at the shelter are elderly, and getting on and off the cots/air mattresses and keeping track of their medications has been extremely challenging. In an effort to provide the most sufficient environment for our eldest neighbors, we are making a plea to local B & B owners to make their beds available until power and water is restored in their homes.
We will be sure to let you know if the situation changes.
